At Jump Start Kids Ltd. the main purpose of all our classes is to teach sports foundation and life skills through sport. This means we teach your child age and ability appropriate sporting skills; beginning with our 2-3 year olds classes of learning to catch and kick effectively, through to mastery of these skills in our 7-8 Year old classes where children will be able to participate in any sport they choose with confidence in their ability.

We develop children’s resilience and confidence in every class by allowing each child to make decisions and choices for themselves, whilst providing rich opportunities to learn the foundation skills required to join in any sport children choose. Each class will be a new and exciting opportunity for your child to learn and grow as the unique individual that they are and will provide solid foundations for an active and self aware future.

Below is an overview of how each age group is structured to include sports foundation coaching as our main focus and how each class is tailored towards the milestones and main developmental stages for every child.

2-3 Year Old Classes

Main Aims: To Develop

  • Independence
  • Confidence
  • Gross Motor Patterns

Our first and most important aim with the 2-3 years age group is to develop children’s independence and confidence to participate in a class without the support of their primary care giver. We want children to be happy and excited to Jump into their classes and build a strong rapport with our expert coaches, ready to learn some super skills!

Children are encouraged and challenged every Jump of the way by our expert coaches. Classes will develop gross motor patterns that aid in your child’s physical development. All classes will include skills that will develop coordination, balance, spatial awareness which is all delivered through the most important medium of learning, FUN!

3-4 Year Old Classes

Main Aims: To Develop

  • Gross Motor Patterns
  • Fine Motor Patterns
  • Resilience

In this age group we continue to build upon the skills taught in the 2-3 Years programme but we introduce more skills to develop fine motor skills. As children develop towards ‘school readiness’ it’s important that they gain and master their fine motor skills to prepare them to mark make, draw and write effectively.

All classes are structured to build children’s independence and willingness to participate in new situations individually. Not only to prepare them for starting school, but to provide children with the foundations of becoming a self assured and resilient child, teen and adult.

In completing this program your child will be confident in their ability to participate in a sport and have the persistence to keep trying and learning new skills outside of our classes.

4-5 Year Old Classes

Main Aim: To Develop

  • Fine Motor Patterns
  • Resilience
  • Power generation

With our 4-5 age group program we start to focus on skills from specific sports such as tennis, baseball basketball etc, rather than having a broad coverage of movements as we deliver in the previous programs. We start developing movements patterns that allow your child to generate more power in movements simply by starting with the correct body position. As we develop good body position habits we increase the difficulty to ensure even the strongest sportsmen and women are still being challenged and having lots of fun whilst doing so!

5-6 Year Old Classes

Main Aim: To Develop

  • Resilience
  • Power generation
  • Intensity

With our 5-6 age group we continue to develop movement patterns and power generation but with an added element of intensity. We first practice the movements and then at the end of the class we set up a “circuit” where children complete the movements from their class with the added element of competition. The reason we add intensity to these classes is to not only reinforce within your child that their ability is now natural but also to introduce your child to “exercise” and show that it can be fun!

6-7 Year Old Classes

Main Aim: To Develop

  • Power generation
  • Intensity
  • Competence

Our final program has been designed to introduce your child to game play and put the four previous programs into practice!

We cover a range of different sports and work mostly in pairs or teams. In one class we could cover as many as four different sports all designed to deliver the most fun to your child and allowing us to deliver our ultimate goal of making your child unconsciously competent in their ability and leading them to an active lifestyle where they are able to attempt any sport and achieve.
